Summer Youth Dragon Boating Begins!
The CAPITAL CITY DRAGONS, NCAWPA’s youth dragon boat team for teens (ages 12-18) is looking for new members for the 2011 season!
Youth will learn to paddle a dragon boat, meet new people, get a great workout, and have fun! No experience is required! The 2011 youth membership fee is $60 but you can attend as many practices as you need to see if you like the sport and want to join the team. The fees go toward sustaining NCAWPA as a non-profit organization, covering paddler insurance costs, and maintaining boating and boathouse equipment.
CCD’s first water practice of the 2011 season will take place on Sunday, April 10th and will continue every Sunday from 10:00 – 11:30am. Practices will run once a week until it’s too cold to paddle (usually around October), at the
Anacostia Community Boathouse
1900 M Street SE
Washington, DC 20003
Arrive at 9:45am to gather your gear and we’ll be ready to go at 10:00am! Practices run approximately one hour long. If you’ve never paddled before, it’s best to show up a few minutes early for your first practice so we can teach you the basics beforehand.
READY FOR PRACTICE?
1) Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP your seat(s) on the boat
2) in order to paddle, whether just once or continuously throughout the season, a signed 2011 USDBF waiver must be presented to NCAWPA (and signed by your parent if under 18):
– Print and sign this form http://www.ncawpa.org/forms/2011/USDBF_Club_Waiver_2011.pdf
– If you don’t bring this form signed by a parent, you won’t be able to paddle 😦
